Soviet Union FC History

Soviet Union FC was founded on 23 February 2002 by Maxim Bikhovsky. The club was admitted to Division 3 "A" of Carlsberg Leinster Football League for 2002-2003 season.

The club name has no connection to communism as many people think. Most of our players were born in USSR and still have good memories from their childhood about friendship among people from former Soviet Union republics. We are multi-cultural team and promote intercultural integration and social inclusion through sport.

Soviet Union FC has the misfortune of never having won the League Championship. The only trophy club has is a Swift Cup. During the last four years the club was promouted to the Major Division of CLFL. Due to rotation of players club could not get a stable squad to win and finish as runner-up team for the first three seasons.

First season in Major Division was very difficult for the club. Finishing sixth was a good achievment.

Two years ago Soviet Union signed a sponsorship deal with Western Union. It helped club rent a floodlighted, all weather pitch and get a new team kit.
